Shortcut Keys

This is a list of shortcut keys related to tables.

Ctrl + SpacebarSelects the entire column when the active cell is not inside a table.
Selects the current column (without headers) when the active cell is inside a table.
When pressed again the selection will include the table header row.
When pressed again the entire column is selected.
Shift + SpacebarSelects the entire row when the active cell is not inside a table.
Selects the current row when the active cell is inside a table.
When pressed again the entire row is selected.
Ctrl + Shift + (=)Inserts one or more columns into a table to the left of the active cell when two cells in a single column.
To insert more than one column you need to highlight more vertical cells than horizontal cells.
Ctrl + Shift + (=)Inserts one or more rows into a table above the active cell.
To insert more than one row you need to highlight more horizontal cells than vertical cells.
Ctrl + (-)Deletes one or more columns from a table.
To delete more than one column you need to highlight more vertical cells than horizontal cells.
Ctrl + (-)Deletes one or more rows from a table.
To delete more than one row you need to highlight more horizontal cells than vertical cells.
Ctrl + 0Hides the columns.
Ctrl + 9Hides the rows.
Ctrl + Shift + 0Unhides any hidden columns within the selection. This does not work in Excel 2007.
Ctrl + Shift + 9Unhides any hidden rows within the selection.
Ctrl + ASelects the entire worksheet, or the current region if the active cell contains a value, or the whole table (excluding heading) if the active cell is in a table.
Ctrl + Shift + AApplies a Filter to the current region.
Ctrl + Shift + LToggle the display of the AutoFilter drop-downs. Also provides a quick way of clearing all the current filters.
Ctrl + Shift + TToggles the display of the total row at the bottom of the table.
Alt + Down ArrowDisplay the Filter for the current column.
Alt + Up ArrowCloses the Filter for the current column.
