Splitting Cells

There are a number of ways you can merge cells together:
1) Using the Tables and Borders toolbar
2) Using the Table drop-down menu.
3) Using the Draw Table button on the Tables and Borders toolbar.

Using the Tables and Borders toolbar

Select the cell and press the Split Cells button.

Split Cells - Splits the selected cells into the specified number of rows and columns.

Using the Table drop-down menu

Select the cell and select (Table > Split Cells).

Important

This command will sometimes split the cell horizontally and sometimes vertically. How the cell is split will depend on the specific table but the split cell command always tries to create a uniform table.
If the cell you are splitting contains text then the text is always placed in the top or left cell.
