This is the simplest possible measure of distribution.
This tells you how spread out the numbers are.
It is obtained by subtracting the smallest number from the largest number.
Extreme values have a large influence.
It cannot be used with grouped data.
It ignores the distribution of intermediate values.
The range is expressed as an interval, for example 1-10.

Quartiles - quarters
Deciles - tens
Percentiles - hundreds
