REMARKS
This is often referred to as the "Fear Gauge" or "Fear Index"
Used to represent market expectations of stock market volatility over the next 30 day period
Introduced in 1993
It is quoted in percentage points and translated to an expected movement in the S&P index over the next 30 days.
