Glossary

Density - This is a measure of how many particles there are in a given space. How heavy a material is for its size.
Dissipation - The term used to describe ways in which energy is wasted.

Equations - Energy

Energy Transferred (J) = Power(watts) x Time(secs)

Kinetic Energy = 1/2 x Mass x Velocity(squared)

Gravitational Potential Energy (J) = Mass (kg) x Gravitational Field Strength (N/kg) x Height

Change in Thermal Energy = Mass x Specific Heat Capacity x Temperature Change

Efficiency = Useful Power Output / Total Power Output

Equations - Waves

Wave Speed = Frequency x Wavelength

Equations - Forces

Work Done = Force x Distance

Force Applied to Spring (N) = Spring Constant (N/M) x Extension (m)

Moment of a Force (Nm) = Force (N) x Distance (m)

Distance Travelled = Speed x Time

Acceleration = Change in Velocity / Time Taken

Resultant Force = Mass x Acceleration

Momentum = Mass x Velocity

Density = Mass / Volume

Equations - Electricity

Charge Flow (C) = Current (A) x Time (secs)

Energy Transferred (J) = Charge Flow (C) x Potential Difference (V)

Potential Difference (v) = Current (A) x Resistance (O)

Power = Potential Difference (V) x Current (A)

Equations - Magnetism
