Easter Eggs


Excel 2002

1) Create a new blank workbook
2) Select (File > SaveAs Webpage).
3) Select the selection: sheet option and check the "Add Interactivity" box
4) Supply any filename and press the Publish button
5) Click on the second publish button and make sure that the Open published web page in Browser option is checked.
6) When the file appears, make cell WC2000 active, hold down Ctrl, Shift and Alt keys and click on the Office logo at the left of the toolbar
7) Use the arrow keys to steer, to fire press spacebar, "o" for an oil slick and "h" for headlights.


Excel 2000

The second Easter egg is much more interesting, it's a secret racing-car game, but it only works if you've installed the whole Excel package, including Web Components and have DirectX installed on your PC.
1) Create a new blank workbook
2) Select (File > Save As), and select Web Page in the Save As Type drop-down menu. A new dialogue window opens:
3) click the Publish button, then under Viewing Options check the "Add Interactivity" box.
4) Give it a name under File Name, click Publish and it will be saved on your hard drive as a ".htm" file.
5) Launch Internet Explorer and open your newly created file.
6) Go to cell WC2000, which should be in the bottom left hand corner of the worksheet, and highlight the whole row.
7) To start the game press (Shift + Ctrl + Alt) and click the Office logo in the top left corner of the worksheet.
8) Use the cursor keys to steer, press the O key for an oil slick, H to turn on your headlights and the Spacebar to shoot at other cars.
9) To exit the game press Esc.


Excel 97

1) Create a new blank workbook
2) Press F5 to display the (Edit > GoTo) dialog box)
3) Type in the range (X97:L97) and press OK
4) Press the tab key once (cell M97 should be active)
5) Hold down Ctrl + Shift and simultaneously click on the Chart Wizard button
6) Use the left button to accelerate and the right to slow down.


Excel 95

1) Create a Blank workbook
2) Select row 95
3) Press the tab key once to move to cell B95
4) Select (Help > About)
5) Press (Ctrl + Shift + Alt) and press the Technical Support Button.
6) You should be in a 3D room
7) Turn round 180 degrees so you are facing the wall
8) Type in "excelkfa" and have a look around
