1) What are Connectives ?
Connectives are words or phrases that link clauses together, they can be:
Conjunctions - these can be coordinating or subordinating
Prepositions
Adverbs


2) What is a Conjuction ?
Usually refers to Cordinating Conjunction.
A word used to link independent clauses.
A word that connects two main clauses together.


3) What is a Coordinating Conjunction ?
Eg: and
Eg: but
Eg: so
Eg: for
Eg: nor
Eg: yet
Eg: or


4) Can you give some examples ?
Eg: I tripped "and" twisted my ankle
Eg: I am allergic to coconuts "but" not to peanuts


5) What is a Subordinating Conjunction ?
Also known as a Dependent Conjunction.
A subordinating conjunction introduces a dependent clause, joining it to a main clause.

Eg: as soon as
Eg: before
Eg: even if
Eg: even though
Eg: if
Eg: if only
Eg: now

When the subordinating conjunction appears in the beginning of a complex sentence, a comma is used after the dependent clause.
Eg: Although, it is really late, I cannot get to sleep.


When a subordinating conjunction is used in the middle of a sentence, there is no need for a comma to be used.

A word that describes the relationship between words.
A word or group of words used before a noun or noun phrase to show direction, time, place, location or to introduce an object.

Eg: during
Eg: for

Eg: into
Eg: on
Eg: through
Eg: under
Eg: until


Eg: The squirrel jumped "towards" the branch
