1) What is a Sentence ?
A sentence is a unit of grammar.
It must contain at least one main clause.
It can contain more than one clause.
A sentence has a subject and predicate, and can often be composed of more than one clause.
As long as it has a subject and a predicate, a group of words can form a sentence, no matter how short.


2) Can you give some examples - Two main clauses
I looked at her and she smiled at me.



3) Can you give some examples - A main clause and a dependent clause
We didn't go to the show because there weren't any tickets left.



4) What is a Phrase ?
A group of words that acts as a unit.
When the group of words do not have a subject or a verb.


5) What is an Idiom ?
This is a phrase that must be taken as a whole


6) What punctuation mark do we use to indicate the end of a sentence.
Full Stop / Period


7) What is the Predicate ?
The predicate is the part of a sentence (or clause) that tells us what the subject does or is.
To put it another way, the predicate is everything that is not the subject.
Eg: Richard "lives in Croydon"
Eg: The girls in our office "are experienced instructors"
