Most templates come with a few formulas already set up and have a lot formatting applied to them to give them a professional look and feel.

Built-in Templates Folder

Installed templates can be found in the following folder:
Excel 365 - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\
Excel 2021 - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\
Excel 2019 - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\
Excel 2016 - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033\

Once you have created your template using (File > Open) will open the actual template as opposed to a file created from it.
