Merge Cells

The cell reference for a merged cell is the upper-left cell in the original selected range.
The text is centred across the selected cells and the range of cells is now treated as a single cell meaning that the individual cells can no longer be selected individually.
When cells containing data are merged, the merged cell will only contain the contents of the top left corner cell.
