Discrete Distributions
Discrete Data
This type of data takes on whole numbers.
This data cannot be subdivided (you cannot have half an item)
(examples: counting objects)
rounding a continuous Quantity does not make it continuous
(time can be treated as discrete)
Examples
For example the number of red cars that drive past in one hour. It can only be an integer number.
For example the sum of two die rolls can take any value from 2 to 12 (inclusive) - there are 36 combinations (6*6)
These include throwing dice, drawing cards and random walks
