Shortcut Keys

This is a list of all the shortcut keys related to cells and ranges.

Alt + EnterEnters a New Line (or carriage return) inside a cell.
Alt + Shift + Page DownExtends the selection right one screen.
Alt + Shift + Page UpExtends the selection left one screen.
Ctrl + Up ArrowMoves to the first row in the current region.
Ctrl + Down ArrowMoves to the Last Row in the current region.
Ctrl + Left ArrowMoves to the first column in the current region or one word to the left.
Ctrl + Right ArrowMoves to the last column in the current region or one word to the right.
Ctrl + ' Enters the formula from the cell directly above into the active cell.
Ctrl + " Enters the value from the cell directly above into the active cell.
Ctrl + 1Displays the Format Cells dialog box.
Ctrl + BackspaceSelects the current active cell (scrolling if necessary).
Ctrl + CCopies the current selection to the clipboard.
Ctrl + DCopies the value from the cell directly above into the active cell.
Ctrl + RCopies the value from the cell directly to the left into the active cell.
Ctrl + VPastes the entry from the clipboard. You can also use Enter to paste the entry.
Ctrl + XCuts the current selection to the clipboard.
Ctrl + EndMoves to the Last Used Cell in the active worksheet. This cell is only updated when the workbook is closed.
Ctrl + EnterFills the selection with the current value.
Ctrl + HomeMoves to the first cell in the active worksheet (i.e. "A1").
Ctrl + (-)Displays the Delete dialog box when cells are selected.
Ctrl + Shift + (=)Displays the Insert dialog box when cells are selected.
Ctrl + Shift + 2Enters the value from the cell directly above into the active cell.
Ctrl + Shift + 8Selects the Current Region (surrounded by blank rows and columns).
Ctrl + Shift + Up ArrowExtends the selection to the next non blank cell above in the same column. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + Down ArrowExtends the selection to the Next Non Blank Cell Below in the same column. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + Left ArrowExtends the selection to the next non blank cell on the left. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + Right ArrowExtends the selection to the next non blank cell on the right. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + EndExtends the selection to the Last Used Cell on the worksheet. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + HomeExtends the selection to the beginning of the worksheet. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys). Does not work on all keyboards though.
Ctrl + Shift + SpacebarSelects all the objects on the worksheet when an object is selected or selects the whole worksheet.
Ctrl + SpacebarSelects the Current Column when the active cell is inside a table. When pressed again the entire column is selected. If the selection spans multiple columns all these table columns are selected.
End, Shift + Arrow KeysSwitches End Mode on and extends the selection to the next non-blank cell in that direction.
End, Shift + HomeSwitches End Mode on and extends the selection to Last Used Cell on the worksheet.
EscCancels the cell entry and restores the original contents.
F2Edits the active cell, putting the cursor at the end.
F4Repeats the last action.
F8Toggles whether to extend a selection with the arrow keys. You will see the text "Extend Selection" appear in the status bar.
Shift + Arrow KeysExtends the selection by one cell in that direction.
Shift + F8Toggles between switching Add Mode on or off. This allows you to select non contiguous blocks of cells using the keyboard arrow keys. You will see the text "Add to Selection" appear in the status bar.
Shift + HomeExtends the selection to the first column.
Shift + Page UpExtends the selection up one screen.
Shift + Page DownExtends the selection down one screen.
Shift + SpacebarSelects the Current Row.
Ctrl + Alt + VDisplays the Paste Special dialog box.
Ctrl + Alt + V, VDisplays the Paste Special dialog box with Values selected.
Alt + E, S, VDisplays the Paste Special dialog box with Values selected.
Alt + Enter

Ctrl + 1
Displays the Format Cells dialog box.
Ctrl + Backspace
Selects the current active cell (scrolling if necessary).
Ctrl + C
Copies the current selection to the clipboard.
Ctrl + D
Copies the value from the cell directly above into the active cell.
Ctrl + R
Copies the value from the cell directly to the left into the active cell.
Ctrl + V
Pastes the entry from the clipboard. You can also use Enter to paste the entry.
Ctrl + X
Cuts the current selection to the clipboard.
Ctrl + End
Moves to the Last Used Cell in the active worksheet. This cell is only updated when the workbook is closed.
Ctrl + Enter
Fills the selection with the current value.
Ctrl + Home
Moves to the first cell in the active worksheet (i.e. "A1").
Ctrl + (-)
Displays the Delete dialog box when cells are selected.
Ctrl + Shift + (=)

Ctrl + Shift + 2
Enters the value from the cell directly above into the active cell.

Extends the selection to the next non blank cell on the left. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + Right Arrow
Extends the selection to the next non blank cell on the right. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + End
Extends the selection to the Last Used Cell on the worksheet. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys).
Ctrl + Shift + Home
Extends the selection to the beginning of the worksheet. This will not work when the following option is ticked (Advanced, Lotus compatibility - transition navigation keys). Does not work on all keyboards though.
Ctrl + Shift + Spacebar
Selects all the objects on the worksheet when an object is selected or selects the whole worksheet.

Selects the Current Column when the active cell is inside a table. When pressed again the entire column is selected. If the selection spans multiple columns all these table columns are selected.
End, Shift + Arrow Keys
Switches End Mode on and extends the selection to the next non-blank cell in that direction.
End, Shift + Home
Switches End Mode on and extends the selection to Last Used Cell on the worksheet.
Esc
Cancels the cell entry and restores the original contents.
F2
Edits the active cell, putting the cursor at the end.
F4
Repeats the last action.
F8
