Troubleshooting

Copy a chart from Excel and try and paste it in as a linked Microsoft Office Graphic Object
Word cannot obtain the data for the:
Excel.sheet.8 link (.xls)
Excel.sheet.12 link (.xlsx)
Excel.sheetMacroEnabled.12 link (.xlsm)

This error can be caused by any of the following:
One or both files have not been saved
The files have been saved in different formats (for example (.xls) and (.docx)
The files have been saved in different locations, folders, drives
This was introduced in Office 2003 SP3
